Costume contest
Shockholm loves costumes – the bold, the spooky, the silly and the strange.
Our costume contests are open to everyone and judged live on stage at the end of the parade. Whether you’re marching solo, with your family, your friends or even your dog – you’ve got a chance to win.
Big effort or small detail, it’s all about creativity, heart and Halloween spirit.
Photographers and media will be on site, and we’ll feature some of our favorite costumes on Shockholm’s social media and website.

Anyone in costume! We have several categories, including:
Kids
Adults
Groups
Families
Dogs (yes, we mean it)
You don’t need to register in advance. Just look for our volunteers and contest tents during the event to sign up.
How does it work?
- Come to Shockholm in costume
Sign up at our Costume Contest tent or with a volunteer
Get a number or name tag
Join us on stage during the award ceremony
Winners are chosen by a small jury and crowd response
What can I win?
Besides eternal Halloween glory?
We give out fun prizes and awards in each category – but the biggest reward is the applause, the photos, and the memories. Plus, your outfit might be featured in next year’s promotions.
Pro tip!
The more creative, the better. Use makeup, recycled materials, lighting, movement, group themes – or just go all in with something funny or original. We’ve seen it all, and we want more!
